Meet an Alcmenie Series | Michelle Jones

Ahoy Alcmenies!

I'm Michelle. Living my best life over here in Perth with my man Hayden, our 18mo old wild child Hamish (fun fact: his name is a our names smooshed together) and our three fur babies 🐶🐱😸
I work as a midwife, so I'm always down for chats about bodily fluids and vajayjays. My short term goal right now is just to make it through the day 💃 but long term would be to travel and show Hamish the big wide world 🌏

What prompted your decision to use cloth nappies?
Hamish had multiple food intolerances and malabsorption, so sposies just weren't containing the poonamis. I googled "star wars nappies" and the rest is history 😂

What has surprised you the most on your cloth journey?
How much my partner and family would love it, how much I actually enjoy doing the laundry and how bloody addictive they are!!

Can you share some advice for families wanting to start using cloth?
To not give up! The amount of times we almost stopped in the early days because of leaks was crazy. We just needed to learn more about fit and absorbency. Reach out to your community, there are so many beautiful people here to help you problem solve.

What is your favourite Alcmena print?
Mine is hands down Bumnuts and Marmaload (Shop Marmaload HERE) they hold a special place in my heart. Hayden would say anything Star Wars and "the Mario one" 🍄

How do you fill your own cup?
If we're talking about my wine glass, then I fill it fast and frequently 🍷

What would be the theme song of your life?
Man! I feel like a woman 💃 by Shania Twain 🎶 Oh oh oh, go totally crazy, forget I'm a lady 🎶

If you could make a difference in the world, what would you be known for?
That would have to be harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan. And world peace 🕊️ (channelling my inner Gracie Hart)But seriously, I would love to travel to third world countries to work with and up-skill local midwives to hopefully improve birth outcomes whilst learning about their own culture and practices ♥️

What is your most treasured possession?
The wine cellar and coffee machine ✊. Obviously my little person is my absolute pride and joy ✨ but I love seeing women uplifting and empowering each other 👯‍♀️

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
That I'm a loving and attentive mumma (Hayden tells me this daily) ♥️

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I was vegetarian for 12 years 🤷🏼

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Yorkshire puddings and gravy (does that count as one food?), hands down!! 🤤 Although pregnant me would've said bowls and bowls and bowls of grated carrot with salad dressing.

A genie gives you three wishes—what are they?
Look I could do the obvious world peace, good health and luck but let's be real for a moment. I just wish that there are NO CODE BROWNS on main wash day 🙄

If life were a video game, what are some cheat codes?
If you pour wine in my glass then mumma is extra happy and you can have sugar before dinner ⬆️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️🅱🅰️

What do you wish you knew more about?
Space 🌗🌑🌘🌙🌓🌚 my little guy loves the moon and I wish I could share more fun facts about it.

Describe yourself in three words?
Empathetic, patient and fu**ing tired.
